Polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) is a transparent amorphous polymer. It can replace glass when higher (impact) strength, lower weight and/or easier formability are needed. Important applications of PMMA are in airplane windows, safety glass, lighting armatures, automotive lights and lenses.
Due to PMMA's excellent weather resistance, it is especially suitable for outdoor applications where long life span is required.
